Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is a nationwide campaign held each October to unite advocates in our efforts to end domestic abuse. Because of your support, we can continue operating at the level we do. Our services work. HAWC saves lives. Your donations make a difference.
For more than 45 years, HAWC has stood on the frontlines, providing free, life-saving support to survivors of domestic abuse while lobbying for policy and system changes to create and enhance vital protections for women and children. Your donation goes directly to supporting survivors and their families.
There are three ways YOU can help:
- Sign HAWC’s petition to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous domestic abusers. Learn more about the Supreme Court case and sign the petition here.
- Read HAWC’s 2023 Gun Violence Report. Share our safety planning resources here.
- Data was provided by the Houston Police Department and a University of Houston study.
- Donate. All donations go directly to supporting women, children, and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
HAWC also participated in an ABC 13 Town Hall about the recent spike in domestic violence cases and the resources available to survivors. We want to thank Angela Johnson for courageously sharing her story.
