Being hospitalized or going to an emergency room for sexual assault or domestic violence is an incredible ordeal.
In this time of crisis, our dedicated crisis response advocates report directly to area hospitals to provide emotional support and to offer a change of new clothing, helping survivors and their friends and family:
-
- Understand what happened to them
- Learn what to expect physically and psychologically after the assault
- Connect with medical and law enforcement professionals
- Access critical resources at HAWC and within their communities
- Provide advocacy
Advocates can also provide survivors with on-site danger assessment and safety planning, coordinate emergency housing placement and transportation of clients and ensure follow-up care after the assault.
If you or someone you know needs hospital accompaniment, please contact our 24-hour hotline or tell the hospital when you arrive.
