The Houston Area Women’s Center’s Counseling Program creates a safe and therapeutic environment of hope and healing for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

We host up to 40 support groups weekly, and offer individual counseling on a case-by-case basis. Clients share experiences, learn and identify ways to heal from the effects of trauma, develop coping skills, and recognize and acknowledge personal strengths. Counseling provides a venue for survivors to break the silence, reduce feelings of shame and isolation, and connect with other survivors.

Our services are confidential, free, and available to all survivors, regardless of race, country of origin, language, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. Therapeutic childcare is available for children of adult clients during support group times.

"HAWC is a safe place where people can begin to break down their feelings, and experience the healing that happens when survivors come together.”

- Leticia Manzano, HAWC Counseling Manager

Our services are confidential, free, and available to all survivors, regardless of race, country of origin, language, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.
