We've been selected: Houston Marathon official charity
By natalie-petrieMay 12, 2015
Once again, we've been chosen as an official charity for this year's Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason program, which provides an avenue for race participants, individuals and organizations to collect donations on behalf of charities like us! The program also allows particpants to skip the lottery, ensure entry and benefit our mission at the same time!
There are two ways to do it:
1) Beginning June 3rd, three full and two half marathon "Fundraising for Registration" (FFR) charity entries will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Team HAWC "Fundraising for Registration" entries give runners an opportunity to fundraise for our mission and receive a guaranteed race entry.
To participate, download and complete a commitment form and email it to LCasey@hawc.org. Once you have been confirmed for Team HAWC, head to Run for a Reason's “Become a Fundraiser for HAWC" to set up a personal fundraising page! The minimum to be raised is $1,000 (charitable donation to HAWC) by November 16th, plus the registration fee (that goes to the Houston Marathon).
2) The second option (which is currently available) allows runners to guarantee race entry now by signing up in the "HERO" program. Entry includes an upfront, tax-deductible donation of at least $350 plus the cost of registration, to secure a guaranteed race entry. HERO Participants will also receive Houston Marathon website recognition, a custom back bib, tech cap and race day VIP perks. Register as a HERO now and be sure to click the button next to the Houston Area Women’s Center's listing!
IMPORTANT: If you select either option, do NOT enter the lottery…your entry is guaranteed!
The 2016 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon are scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2016.
