We Are in Urgent Need of Yoga Pants and Sports Bras
By natalie-petrieJun 01, 2015
We have an urgent need for women's yoga pants and sports bras for our Hospital Accompaniment Program, which connects dedicated Houston Area Women’s Center advocates with survivors of domestic and sexual violence who are receiving emergency medical assistance.
Survivors often have to surrender clothing at the hospital for evidence or may have no clothing to take with them to our shelter. That’s why providing something clean and comfortable – like yoga pants and sports bras – is so important. We especially need MEDIUM and LARGE yoga pants and all sizes of sports bras. Because of limited storage and cleaning resources, we can only accept items that are *NEW.*
This is just one of the components of our Hospital Accompaniment Program, which sends advocates, 24-hours-a-day, to area hospitals to help survivors understand what has happened to them and what to expect physically and psychologically after an assault. We also advocate on their behalf with medical professionals and law enforcement and connect them to critical resources in the community.
If you'd like to make a donation, please drop your items off at our 1010 Waugh Drive location during our regular business hours: M-F 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
If you'd rather organize a drive for these items, please contact Cassandra Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Many thanks in advance. We appreciate your help and your support for survivors!
