Thank You for Supporting us This Domestic Violence Awareness Month
By chau-nguyenNov 01, 2016
October was National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we would like to thank all the organizations throughout the community that supported us through volunteer events, fundraisers, and speaking opportunities. This month we appeared on Great Day Houston, Fox 26, ABC 13, KHOU, Viva Houston, and Univision. We were also invited to two press conferences, one with Houston Police Department and one in conjunction with a Call to Men.
Lone Star College invited our shelter residents to participate in their clothesline project, BBVA donated nonperishable food items to our clients, Women of Wine held their annual fundraiser benefitting us, Jack and Jill of Humble and Kingwood created gift baskets for our adult and child clients, our Young Leaders organized a moving candlelit vigil at City Hall, and the Lady Texans held a spa day for the residents at our shelter.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month provides an opportunity for us to magnify the voices of survivors and remind our community of how important it is that we all stand together against domestic violence. Our work would not be possible without the incredible support from our community. Thank you to everyone who helped maximize the impact of this month!
