Allstate Foundation Financially Empowers Survivors
By karen-kochMay 20, 2015
Financial barriers and economic dependence pose big challenges for domestic violence survivors who want to leave their abusive relationships. That’s why we are so grateful to The Allstate Foundation for awarding a $25,000 grant to support and enhance our Career Development Program!
The goal of the Career Development Program is to help our shelter clients create individualized plans for financial stability. Allstate’s Moving Ahead Through Financial Management Curriculum plays a key role by providing domestic violence survivors with a comprehensive package of tools and resources designed to help them manage their finances. The curriculum also helps them plan and create financial foundations from which they can build safe and economically independent futures for themselves and their children.
While taking part in the Career Development Program, our clients attend classes to learn about budgeting, credit repair, saving for the future and accessing financial resources. They also develop the skills needed to manage financial resources, obtain employment, enhance job opportunities and further their education.
With the support and resources provided by The Allstate Foundation, survivors have a better chance at a brighter future for themselves and their children.
