Violence Prevention and Community Education
The Houston Area Women’s Center is committed to working with our communities to build greater understanding of the issues of domestic and sexual violence. Each year, our staff train and educate thousands of medical, law enforcement, mental health and legal professionals, youth, university students and administrators, educators, faith-based leaders, community leaders, volunteers and advocates. At the Center, we firmly believe that we will one day end the cycle of abuse by realistically talking and learning the truth about domestic and sexual violence.
We welcome the opportunity to work with your group to design a training and/or education program that meets your organization’s needs and fits within your schedule.
We work closely with medical, law enforcement agencies, mental health professionals, legal professionals, university students and administrators, educators, faith-based leaders, advocates and activists to design a training program that fits your organization’s needs and works within your schedule. Our training modules are designed to build specific skills. Upon completion of one of our training modules, participants should not only gain a deeper understanding of domestic and sexual violence, but they should be able to capably assist someone suffering from this type of violence.
Our Violence Prevention and Community Education program offers training modules on a variety of topics, including:
