Currently, we have an URGENT NEED for *NEW* women's yoga pants, t-shirts, sports bras and socks of ALL SIZES.
Often, survivors have to leave everything behind, and we need to get them comfy, clean clothes quickly. We can only accept new items, which you can drop off at our 1010 Waugh building. If you'd prefer to organize a DRIVE for these urgent items, please email Cassandra Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Because of limited staff and space resources, we do not have the ability to sort, store and clean previously-owned clothing, toys and other donated items. For this reason, financial donations provide us with best way to match and meet the ongoing – and often changing – needs of our clients. You can make a financial donation here.
There are also certain new items that we can accept at certain times of the year. For instance, during our annual Back To School Drive, we collect new school supplies and backpacks for our clients’ children, and during our annual Holiday Gift Express, we collect gift cards and new toys.
Here are answers to other frequently asked questions:
BESIDES YOUR TWO ANNUAL DRIVES, UNDER WHAT OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES CAN YOU ACCEPT NEW ITEMS?
We often have very specific or urgent needs that are met through community drives. These drives help us fulfill our need for items like diapers (especially larger sizes), bras and underwear, and regular-sized toiletries. If you are interested in organizing a drive to meet these types of needs, or have an idea for a drive you’d like to discuss with us, please contact Cassandra Thomas at 713-528-6798 x2243 or email@example.com.
CAN YOU ACCEPT BABY ITEMS LIKE CAR SEATS, CRIBS AND STROLLERS?
By law, we cannot accept these items.
WHAT ABOUT OTHER ITEMS FOR CHILDREN, LIKE TOYS?
We can only accept new toys in their original packaging. By law, we cannot accept used toys or stuffed animals.
SINCE YOU DON’T ACCEPT NON-URGENT CLOTHING DONATION, WHERE CAN I DONATE MY USED CLOTHES?
There was a time, several years ago, when the Houston Area Women’s Center operated a resale shop. We no longer have that shop, nor do we have the capacity to process clothing donations. However, below are some local organizations that have the ability to collect donated clothing. These organizations also serve our clients:
Assistance League of Houston
The Salvation Army
Star of Hope
The Women’s Home
Dress for Success
